Jada Jones Rockstar

reviewed by Violet

Jada Jones is a good friend and she loves rocks. In Jada Jones Rockstar by Kelly Starling Lyons, Jada has to go to fourth grade without her best friend Mari. Mari moved to Arizona. I’m going into third grade and my best friend moved to Arizona too! Jada is just like me. She doesn’t want to replace her best friend but making new friends feels really good too. Jada tries to be friends with Lena but Simone is making it difficult. Sometimes friends get jealous. Sometimes three friends together can feel like two against one. My favorite part was when Jada got a letter from Mari and it made her sooooo happy. That’s how I feel when I get a letter from my best friend, Elle. I also liked learning about different kinds of rocks in this book. This book made me feel happy and I think any kid who is around 7 or 8 or 9 years old would love it too.

About Me

Sarah Mead grew up reading anything she could get her hands on and her stories won her the future author award in elementary school. As a fourth-grade teacher, she earned a master's degree in writing curriculum, but decided that writing children’s books was much more fun! She regularly publishes magazine articles and leads a group of children's authors and illustrators in Rochester, NY. When she isn’t writing or reading, you can find her belting showtunes in the carpool or playing board games with her husband and three kids. She has a mini-goldendoodle named Oliver who likes to sleep on her feet while she writes.
